From the Northern Associate DS
As the new kid on the block, I am still in awe of what God has done in and around me these last few months. It was absolutely a God event, getting me to the place where I would even consider moving out of local church ministry into this Northern region position. A few years ago, we decided that when the hair stands up on the back of your neck from seeing God at work, those are called God bumps rather than goose bumps. There have been a lot of God bumps recently as God has led me into this position.
While I was a young teen I began thinking about becoming a pastor. One day my pastor said to me, "Peter, if God has called you into the pastorate, don’t stoop to be a king." That was wise counsel then and still is today. There is no greater position to be, than where God leads a person. I have been a pastor or church planting missionary for the better part of 29 years now and still believe that it is a great calling to be a pastor. Now that God has moved us out of the local church ministry, I look forward to coming alongside each of the churches in the Northern region as a pastor to pastors, a listening ear to church boards and helping churches see their unique spiritual DNA. Feel free to call me to talk about the possibility of becoming a church without walls and then a church willing to reproduce itself.
Walking alongside of you,
Pete Johnson
